January 13, 2016
Dear Parents, Students and Friends,
It is with great pleasure and excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the newly appointed Dean of Students of Lorenzo R. Smith Sustainability and Technology Academy, effective January 13, 2016, it is an honor to become a member of the Lorenzo R. Smith Mustang community.
I truly believe in shared ownership of all that goes on in a school – in administrators, teachers, parents and other staff members collaborating for the benefit of the students. I also believe in teaching and nurturing the whole child, academically, socially, emotionally and behaviorally; and it is my hope that we will all work together to provide Lorenzo R. Smith Sustainability and Technology students with the best possible learning opportunities to assist them in reaching their full potential. As Dean of Students, I will foster a learning environment that is supportive but challenging and which is founded on research-based practices.
In my eyes, one of the most important aspects of my role as Dean of Students is to build solid relationships with students, families, teachers and other staff. I will be present in the hallways and classrooms as well as on the playground and in the lunchroom to get to know your children and to play an active role in their learning and development. Your children may rest assured knowing that I will always listen and will be fair in my decision making. I will appreciate and care about each and every student.
Please know that my door is always open and that it is important to me that your children and you feel safe and happy at school. Communication is paramount, and I urge you to contact me if you ever have questions or concerns.
Our greatest initiative will be to continue to work together to provide differentiated learning opportunities for each student and inspire and challenge our students with engaging experiences. I am confident, that together, we can make Lorenzo R. Smith Sustainability and Technology Academy an even better place for our students to learn and grow.
With warm regards,
Dean of Students
